Texting and Writing

The passage is about the discussion of the effect on writing by texting and instant massaging. Texting is very prominent now and is affecting the way we think of writing and also the method of writing. Texting usually happens by shortening words and making text in the shortest way possible. In writing it is very important to write properly with full sentences and having a complete idea. But in texting, most of that is lost. In the passages it argues how IM and texting influences the way we write and communicate. Before communicating in the form f writing was by letter or by email. It was something not vey instant. The writing style had to be full of meaning because a letter or email is not a very instant thing. Now, with the advancement of IM and texting the method of speech does more instant resemble an actual verbal conversation. We don’t speak the same way we write, but with texting it had made it to make speaking and texting the same. We text the way we speak, therefor, the meaningful long writing that is done typically with emails or letters is not done. Texting is done all the time. It does not require long words or for being formal when texting friends. When friends’ text, they speak in their own language and it catches on and when it comes time to write a paper, it is difficult because they are so use to the text speech.
Writing requires proper grammar, good word choice, and complete sentences. It says in the passages that researchers are concerned that teenagers writing is being corrupted by texting and instant messaging.
